I am Bryan Windmark, blood brother of Andrés and María Susana.
I began playing guitar at age 10, when Andrés was only 5 years old. We had an upright piano in our house and a very old but quality Spanish classical guitar. My sister María Susana -two years younger than me- was the first to take guitar lesson. I picked up the instrument out of jealousy … Albeit that fact, in a short time, I turned into a guitar wonder and -naturally- Andrés, who always looked up to me, decided that he was also going to be a guitarist.
My mother gets credited with fostering the permanent competition between us brothers.
By the time I turned 17, I could pretty much do anything I wanted with a guitar … but Andrés, five years younger was not far behind … and this kind of terrified me. He was twelve and he could almost play as well as me.
I turned pro and played at venues by the time I was 18 and met and played with many other pro musicians. Then I moved to the United States and my life took off in another direction.
Nevertheless, I managed to bring Andrés to New York City legally and he began his serious musical studies with a variety of people. Andrés became a performing artist by composing, arranging and producing jingles and later began a prolific life as a composer of serious music, full time. In his later years, Andrés also became an accomplished keyboardist. His bio, found in the "About Me” tab, speak for itself.
I could not be prouder of Andrés. He had a sacrificed but rewarding life, crowned by the arrival of his only daughter Chloe, who is now about to be 14 years old. Unfortunately, I don’t have any access to my niece Chloe due to egoist whims of my sister-in-law. I would love to reconnect with her, but she is closely shielded by her mother and not allowed contact. Maybe she will figure out something … one of these days.
One of my biggest accomplishments in life was to be the catalyst in my brother’s upbring and professional development. It is with ever-lasting love and admiration that I dedicate this humble website in his memory.
